p m t

It's that time of the month again.....

Here we go again.

That familiar low back pain, headaches, tummy cramps, puffiness, irritability and an overall crankiness.

The monthly cycle of menstruation can cause some women a great deal of discomfort both physically and emotionally. It doesn’t seem fair that out of four weeks a quarter (and sometimes more) of it will be spent not feeling very well at all. The symptoms an vary immensely from woman to woman with some suffering from minor discomfort to some enduring severe pain. Pmt or premenstrual tension can put stress not only on a woman but on those around her. Everyone can feel the full force or “The Voice” of Pmt. Fortunately as much as Mother Nature gives monthly discomfort she also provides relief in the form of natural remedies.

Flaxseed oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory and provides gamma-linolenic acid (Gla) an essential fatty acid that is very helpful in relieving symptoms of back pain and cramps.

B Complex (100mg) is particularly helpful for replenishing stress nutrients (we use them up quicker the more stressed we are) and also reduces water retention.

Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D deficiencies are some times associated with PMT. A good cal/mag formula can help with symptoms of pain and it’s good to protect your bones.

Vitamin E (we recommend starting with 400iu and increasing slowly to 800iu)is effective at relieving sore breasts, nervous tension and irritability. It’s also great for your skin.

Kelp is a super source of minerals and can help with thyroid balance. Kelp is particularly good if you gain weight around your cycle as it helps with weight loss. It also helps keep energy levels up promotes good brain function.

Wild Yam contains natural progesterone and has proven to be effective at relieving cramps, mood swings, headaches and insomnia.

Pmt Complexes are good as they are formulated with natural ingredients and herbal combinations.

Lavender Oil is very calming and can help soothe frayed nerves. Rub a little oil on to your tummy for cramp relief or onto temples for to help with headache pain. A few drops into a warm bath (not hot) can help create a sense of calm.

Natural personal care can also be of benefit to the whole body, mind & spirit. Using quality natural products that are chemical free allow the body to breathe and not simply just “cover up“. Choose from crystal deodorants, shower gels& shampoos, beautiful soaps, skin care (check out Alva and A’kin products, they are truly superb) and tampons, pads and natural wipes.
